Maybe I’ll do some writing during my upcoming vacation

26 06 2009

I’ll be on vacation for 2 weeks from next Friday. I’ll be taking my iBook with me, and haven’t got too much planned in terms of activities. So maybe I’ll be able to do some writing on either the original idea — I have all the input necessary to write the Canadian GP chapter — or an ultra-short version of the entire story. I reckong I could write that without too much detailed research.

Contemplating on an ultra-short version of my story

18 06 2009

Yesterday, I came up with a fresh idea. I’m contemplating on writing an ultra-short version of The Encounter Down Under which covers the entire story, just without all the details. This might yet be an interesting read, and serve as a basis on which to work on the longer version of the Senna versus Schumacher story.

Time to face the music

15 05 2009

While striking another month off the calendar, and even the 15th Aniversary of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna’s death passing, I haven’t found a single hour to work on my book. I’ve been very busy with many, many other activities which require as much priority as attention, so I believe it’s time for me to face the music:

  • I won’t be working on The Encounter Down Under, at least until the end of Summer.

That saddens me, because I’ve had a great time coming up with ideas, doing research, and writing my Senna versus Schumacher story. It’s just a matter of first things first for me, and I hope to be able to dedicate some more time to my story, either in its original form or as a prober book, from September or October.

Oh, how little time…

15 04 2009

Sadly, I’ve had precious little time to work on my book, lately. I’ve been busy with family matters, church matters, Easter et cetera. I have received a reply from the potential publisher on the alternative idea for my Senna versus Schumacher story, however… although I haven’t had the time to look into that properly.

I hope to find some free time either this weekend or next week… and as always, I’ll keep you posted.

Edit: I see, now, that my last post was as far back as mid-March. I’m deeply ashamed. ;-)

Anxious for publisher’s reply

16 03 2009

I have to say, I’m quite anxious for the potential publisher’s reply regarding my alternate approach. Whatever his view, it’ll mean I’ll get back to work on my story sooner rather than later. And despite having been quite busy doing loads of other things, I would like to get back into the flow of my Senna versus Schumacher story and working towards finishing either the current approach or getting started on the new one. And who knows, maybe I’ll work on both of them…

Outline for book concept submitted to publisher

13 03 2009

The last 4 to 5 weeks I worked on an outline for a book of my Senna versus Schumacher story. I won’t give too much away just yet, but it involves 6 fictional characters that are, in one way or another, involved in the rivalry between Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.

I submitted the outline to the publisher last week, but he’s on holiday now. So I hope to hear from him early April, and talk to him about how to move forward from this. I’ll keep you posted!

Part II-a available for download

1 03 2009

I’ve just uploaded part II-a of The Encounter Down Under, containing 2 of the 4 chapters intended for part II. I hope you’ll enjoy reading them. And comments are more than welcome.

I think I’ll publish what I have for part II early

23 02 2009

Although part II of my Senna versus Schumacher story is not yet finished — in fact, I’m only halfway there — I’m thinking about publishing what I have writting up to now. So that’s the Monaco Grand Prix, in which Ayrton Senna returns to his Williams-Renault car after his accident, to take on Michael Schumacher, plus the Spanish Grand Prix that followed, in which the German, in real life, suffered reliability problems for the first time in the 1994 Formula One season.

If you’re interested, please let me know and post a reply.

Discussed my book with a potential publisher

13 02 2009

Late January, I discussed my book, The Encounter Down Under, with a potential publisher. I contacted him through a mutual acquaintance at LinkedIn — actually, there were two steps between him and me — and we met at his office in Amsterdam. He had read part I of the Senna versus Schumacher story and liked the what-if concept of my book.

Chapter 6 now finished; changed some details througout

30 01 2009

Yes, it has finally happened: the Spanish Grand Prix chapter of my Senna versus Schumacher book is now finished! I’ve also made some changes throughout all the previous chapters, after having read all my scribblings two weeks ago. I’ll soon update the downloadable version of part I of The Encounter Down Under. Next up is the Canadian GP, which I’ll start writing next Tuesday.
